Help shape the future of South Australian Music Pathways

Over the past few years, Adelaide City of Music has made international introductions, provided advice, and built sustainable pathways for South Australian artists and music culture. This work has ranged from connecting artists, orgniasaiotins, and festivals, to supporting South Australian artists to pursue opportunities overseas and represent Adelaide on international stages. Through connections across the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and broader international music communities, ACOM has also built relationships with partner cities and created new pathways for exchange, touring, collaboration, professional development, and global opportunities for South Australian artists, organisations, and industry.

We are proud to launch the 2026 Pathways Program, a sector-wide consultation designed to strengthen the impact of Adelaide’s UNESCO City of Music designation and ensure future opportunities reflect the needs, ambitions, and priorities of South Australia’s music community.

The 2026 Pathways Program will engage with the sector through a survey and stakeholder consultation, gathering insights into current international activity, aspirations, opportunities, challenges, and priority areas for support. The consultation will engage artists, music organisations, businesses, educators, venues, festivals, and industry stakeholders to better understand where ACOM can provide the greatest value.

By listening to the sector, ACOM will build a stronger evidence base to guide future programs, partnerships, advocacy, communications, and international activity. The findings will help identify priority pathways for collaboration, exchange, and growth, while strengthening awareness of the opportunities available through Adelaide’s UNESCO City of Music designation.

The program will also help build stronger connections between South Australia’s music community, government partners, and international networks. It will support longer-term planning and ensure ACOM continues to focus its resources on initiatives that can deliver meaningful cultural, creative, and economic benefits for the state.

Everyone working in or connected to South Australia’s music sector is encouraged to take part. Whether you are an artist, organisation, venue, festival, educator, business, industry worker, or music supporter, your insights can help shape what comes next for South Australian music.
